In this 4-part blog series, we discuss the basic foundations of the why, how and the what of starting a corporate wellness business, along with the benefits of when you achieve success. In this blog we dive into the work of Simon Sinek, who remarks that it can be difficult to create and focus on the Why. Let's discuss.
Working with corporations requires holistic and health care practitioners to work in their own creative framework, versus following the crowds, and to be clear as to ‘why’ they want to, in the first place. For me, having a larger impact made sense. The old adage of ‘go big or go home’ had meaning, and I wanted to touch the lives of many, not a few.
Let’s Start with WHY is Simon Sinek’s first and most popular book, having earned a spot on the New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists. In this book, Simon shows that the leaders who’ve had the greatest influence in the world all think, act, and communicate the same way—and it’s the opposite of what everyone else does. Simon calls this powerful idea The Golden Circle, and it provides a framework upon which organizations can be built, movements can be led, and people can be inspired.
And it all starts with WHY: How great leaders inspire everyone to take action.
This 4-part series will uncover how to start a corporate business by answering:
Why – your purpose
How – your process
What – your result
When – your benefits as a direct result of why, how and what, you achieve. This addition, is my added value to attracting and working with corporate clients.
People don't buy WHAT you do, they buy WHY you do it, as detailed in Simon’s ‘why’.
Understanding the why and how to start a corporate wellness business and with the results from this endeavor, offers THE foundation for you as a leader to excel in your personal and professional life. All too often, we follow a trend rather than forge our own. If you’ve ever wanted to create change in your life and in your holistic or health practice, Attracting Corporate Clients may be the program you’ve been waiting for. Let’s face it, we all know there is more than one way of getting from where we are to where we want to be.
As Simon Sinek would say, your why, is what you really need to know, because it allows you to align yourself with the basics of meaning, satisfaction and eventual fulfilment in your own business.
Sinek does say that it can be difficult to create and focus on the Why. He says that some people are Why people and others more naturally focus on the How. These How people may be more operationally and logistically minded, while the Why people can come up with and channel the values and mission. (Jun 5, 2023)
A Quick Summary
Simon Sinek defines the Why as your purpose, cause, or belief. It explains why your business exists and why your customers should care. It should guide every decision you make, and if your actions are aligned with it, build trust with the kinds of customers that align with it. The What is what product and service you’re providing, and the How is your differentiating factors from other businesses.
Sinek says that starting and leading with your Why taps into the part of the brain responsible for feeling, which deeply attracts customers and followers. By focusing on something that people can relate to with their core, you can set yourself and your business up for a really deep kind of success. Sinek also dives into a lot of case studies of businesses and leaders using their Why.
